In some places of the metro, namely the southwest metro, traffic is rolling along and life is a picnic. In other places, it's a nightmare.
The biggest hassle is on northbound Hwy. 61. A semi carrying coal tipped over at I-494 and that has the highway at 494 shut down for the next several hours. Traffic is being diverted to eastbound 494. At present, there is a backup to 80th Street in Cottage Grove.
The eastbound Crosstown is all bound up from France Avenue to Lyndale Avenue. A crash on the left shoulder is partly to blame. Ahead, northbound 35W loses steam from 50th Street to Lake Street.
In the north, southbound 35E is plugged up from 694 down to Roselawn Avenue. Earlier road work and a crash is causing the bumper to bumper conditions on westbound 694 from Hwy. 61 to the west junction of 35E, and on eastbound 694 from Rice Street over to 35E.
Here are some current travel times:
North metro
Southbound 35W from 95th Avenue to downtown Minneapolis: 20 minutes
Southbound 35E from County 96 to I-94: 19 minutes.
