6:45 a.m. update: Clogged traffic on I-694 and Crosstown

Call it the hangover effect for commuters on I-694 approaching the I-35E interchange in Little Canada. Road work that had the freeway down to one lane lifted late, and that had traffic bunching up. Now add a crash on the left shoulder of westbound 694 at Hwy. 61 to the mix and you've got a gridlock.

Eastbound 694 also clogs up approaching the interchange, so expect delays. Traffic also is tight on southbound 35E from 694 down to Hwy. 36.

Over in Richfield, eastbound Crosstown jams up approaching Lyndale Avenue. A crash resides on the left shoulder. Police and an ambulance are on the scene.

Not much relief for northbound Hwy. 61 drivers in Newport. An overturned semi has the highway closed at I-494.

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
