6:40 a.m. update: Metro Transit following regular schedules

Free rides on Metro Transit tonight.

Aside from the Northstar Commuter line, Metro Transit buses and light rail are following regular weekday schedules.

The transit agency also will offer free rides for New Year's Eve beginning at 6 p.m. until the last bus or train.

To accomodate revelers, Metro Transit has added a couple extra trips on the Hiawatha Light rail leaving downtown at 2:13 a.m. and 2:57 a.m.
