6:40 a.m. update: Major crash on Hwy. 5 near Mendota Bridge

Glare ice on Hwy. 5 just east of the Mendota Bridge has led to an accident involving "several vehicles," a MnDOT spokesman said.

Glare ice on Hwy. 5 just east of the Mendota Bridge has led to an accident involving "several vehicles," a MnDOT spokesman said.

The crash is on Hwy. 5 in the area of Edgecumbe Road and the tunnel that leads to the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.

MnDOT is calling a salt truck to the area. No word if there are injuries.

A motorist slipped off the ramp from Hwy. 8 to southbound I-35 in Forest Lake.
