It's a holiday from congestion on southbound 35W through Shoreview and Mounds View, a nice change from the usual delays that begin to form at this time of the morning.
Things are wide open on I-694 in both directions through the work zone between Hwy. 252 and East River Road. No problems elsewhere along the freeway through the northern suburbs.
In the south metro, both the Crosstown and 494 through Bloomington and Edina are quiet and moving at the posted speeds.
On 494, look for a few ramp closings that are expected to go into effect today at Penn Avenue. There also is road work at 34th Avenue. The westbound ramp is closed and traffic is being rerouted to 24th Avenue.
In the northwest metro, both eastbound 94 and southbound 494 are moving swiftly. East metro drivers will find a smooth commute on westbound I-94 and Hwy. 36.
