A 5-year-old girl was killed early Sunday in a mobile home fire in Ham Lake despite her father's repeated tries to save her.
Scott T. Andrus, 36, was able to pull Jaidyn Grace Andrus of Elk River from her bedroom, but she died at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, authorities said.
The fire is believed to have started in Jaidyn's bedroom, the Anoka County Sheriff's Office said, but the cause of the fire is under investigation.
Andrus was hospitalized with noncritical injuries.
The blaze struck the home in the Flamingo Terrace mobile home park, in the 3000 block of Meadow Lane, shortly after midnight Sunday, according to the Sheriff's Office.
