HONOLULU — Five people were injured when two slow-moving trains on a sight-seeing tour of a pineapple plantation collided in central Oahu.
Paramedics took a 41-year-old woman to the hospital in serious but stable condition Wednesday afternoon. A 24-year-old woman was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Honolulu Emergency Medical Services District Chief Arnold Paragoso says three others were treated at the scene but declined to be taken to the hospital.
Paragoso says the two Dole Plantation trains weren't going very fast when they collided before 2 p.m.
Honolulu Fire Department spokesman Capt. Terry Seelig says the trains weren't seriously damaged.
Dole Plantation's website promotes 20-minute rides on trains called the "Pineapple Express." The two-mile tours tell the history of pineapple in Hawaii and the founding of the Dole company.
