Roads are terrible all across the metro area as black ice has turned them treacherous. A couple of the most troublesome areas appear to be on northbound 35W in Burnsville and northbound 35E in St. Paul.

In Burnsville, crashes on northbound 35W at County Road 42 has one lane blocked and traffic is backing up quickly to Crystal Lake Road. There is another wreck ahead at Burnsville Pkwy.

In St. Paul, northbound 35E is looking like a skating rink with wrecks at Maryland Avenue and ahead at Larpenteur Avenue.

There are now fewer than 10 wrecks on the system at this hour. The newest are:

Southbound Hwy. 100 at Brooklyn Blvd.

Westbound 694 at University Avenue.

Westbound 494 at Nicollet Avenue

Westbound 94 at Hwy. 52 in St. Paul

Eastbound 94 at Xerxes Avenue
