5:40 a.m. update: Lots of wrecks so far this morning

The State Patrol says it handled more than 650 crashes as of 8:30 p.m. Thursday. The good news it that there were no fatalities, but 87 people were injured. Authorities responded to an additional 429 vehicles that spun out or went off the road, and aided 11 jackknifed semitrailer trucks.

Let's hope today's numbers are far below those. So far, the patrol has been busy responding to crashes and spin outs as roads are in tough shape despite MnDOT's best efforts.

The latest incidents include a crash on southbound 35W at Stinson Blvd. That's got traffic knotting up quickly at Industrial Blvd.

It's a pair of crashes on westbound 94 to be on the look out for. They are at Broadway Avenue and another two-vehicle collision in the left lane ahead at Lowry Avenue (pictured).
