A 25-year-old Brooklyn Park man died in late November as a result of a gunshot wound he suffered exactly four years earlier, the Hennepin County medical examiner said Saturday.

Kevin Alston Jr. died Nov. 30, 2015, of "delayed infectious complications of quadriplegia" after being shot in the head on the same date in 2011 in the 600 block of West Broadway in Minneapolis, according to the medical examiner's report.

Alston died at Hennepin County Medical Center, the medical examiner said.

It remains unclear who shot Alston, said Minneapolis police spokesman John Elder. Police are still investigating, and ask anyone with information to call CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

The death pushed Minneapolis' 2015 homicide total to 50, its highest since 2006, when 57 people were killed in the city.

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
