GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK, Ariz. — Authorities say four visitors at the Grand Canyon suffered minor injuries from a nearby lightning strike at the canyon's south rim.

Officials at Grand Canyon National Park say the four people weren't struck by lightning but instead felt tingling in their bodies after lightning struck near them around 1 p.m. Monday near Mather Point.

The visitors were examined at a medical clinic and released.

Park officials say other people have been injured and died in the past at the Grand Canyon from lightning strikes.

They say visitors should seek shelter in a building or vehicle during lightning strikes and shouldn't touch metal railings during storms with lightning.
