TOWN OF DALLAS, Wis. — It's the third and final day for Wisconsin Farm Technology Days in Barron County.
An estimated 60,000 people are visiting dozens of vendor booths promoting the latest in agriculture technology and innovations. The 60th annual event is being held at Breezy Hill Dairy near the Town of Dallas this year.
The University of Wisconsin-Extension agent from Pierce County, Greg Andrews, is exhibiting a farming practice of land-rolled fields. Giant rollers crush the dirt before — and sometimes during — a soybean harvest.
Andrews tells the Eau Claire Leader-Telegram (http://bit.ly/13MQ2Gh ) the practice is gaining popularity in Wisconsin because it makes combining faster and soybeans easier to harvest. It demonstrates how to use technology effectively and minimize runoff from farm fields.
