The first round of the 3M Championship is in the books. On a day ripe for good scoring it was adrenaline that took over.

Mark Wiebe, four days removed from winning the Senior British Open in a playoff at Royal Birkdale in Southport, England, shook off another restless night of sleep and leads the tournament after a round of 8-under-par 64 at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine.

He's the outright leader by a stroke over two-time major champion Kenny Perry and Corey Pavin. A group of five players sits at 6 under.

Even with a wind that picked up during the afternoon players kept pin-seeking all day. John Riegger, one of those at 6 under, carded a pair of eagles including a tap-in at 18 after a beautiful shot over the large pond.

"The greens are perfect," said Peter Senior, another player at 6 under who finished early in the day. "These are probably the best greens we've putted so far this year. We putt on good greens mainly but these are perfect speed. I think the guys will be really really happy with these."
