Champion: Jay Haas

Jay Haas two-putted from about 30 feet for birdie and a 15-under-par total to win the tournament by a stroke over Kenny Perry, Peter Senior and hometown favorite Tom Lehman. It ended a winless streak of 41 events for Haas, who has won 15 Champions Tour events. He became the first player on tour to score a hole in one in a tournament and win since Jeff Sluman in 2009. Haas notched his ace in the first round. On Sunday, three consecutive birdies on the front nine got him going. John Huston, who held the lead after 36 holes with Senior at 12 under, had 35 putts Sunday after 28 and 29 in the first two rounds, respectively. He finished four shots back.HOLE OF THE DAY

Where else? The closing hole provided a memorable eagle for the third consecutive final round when 61-year-old Tom Watson wowed the crowd with a 70-foot putt to briefly give him a share of the lead at 12 under. Watson called the putt "a field goal." The 18th was the easiest hole all three days of the tournament, yielding 11 of the 17 eagles. It played more than a half-stroke under par.

FOUR QUESTIONS

Up and down with David Frost The defending 3M champion nearly eagled the 18th hole on Sunday for the second year in a row, but his try from 30 feet lipped out. He closed with a 70 and finished tied for 26th at 8 under.

Q Looked like you had a chance for some fireworks there at the end.

A Yeah, that would have been nice after I completely lost it on the back nine. And I started so well. I just don't know what happened. Then almost had a little eagle there again.

Q Give some perspective on this course after you won with 25 under last year.

A If you recall, earlier this week I said an average of 5 or 6 under a round would win this year since the course is playing a lot longer and the ball isn't rolling out on the greens. It's just a little harder to make putts that way.

Q Why do you think there's never been a repeat winner in 19 years of this tournament?

A Good thing you didn't tell me that on Wednesday. Maybe you should have. In my case, the expectations were quite high coming in and it's hard matching up to it. It was still a good year I've had since last year, and I almost made a run at it today.

Q How much can just one birdie help a round?

A The whole thing is about getting the momentum going. Once you see the ball go into the hole you feel confident rolling it the rest of the day. You do that, you don't think back at all.
