A deer ran out from a ditch along a rural road in east-central Minnesota, knocking a 62-year-old man off his three-wheel motorcycle. The rider did not survive the collision, which was witnessed by his wife, authorities said Monday.

The collision occurred about 9:30 a.m. Saturday on westbound 195th Avenue, about 10 miles east of Mora in Comfort Township, according to the Kanabec County Sheriff's Office.

David H. Anderson, of North Branch, Minn., died early the next morning at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale. Anderson suffered injuries to his torso, the Hennepin County medical examiner's office said.

Paula Anderson was riding along with her husband at the time and was not caught up in the collision.

A man who lives nearby and came to the fallen rider's side and found him conscious and speculating that he may have a broken shoulder and broken ribs.
