Two young children were found uninjured inside a Coon Rapids home where three people were shot to death Friday afternoon, officials said.

The children were in the home at the time of the incident, according to a statement from Tierney Peters, a spokeswoman for the Anoka County Sheriff's Office.

Peters said the victims were two males and one female, but she did not say whether they were adults or children.

A suspect was in custody Saturday, but Peters did not offer a preliminary motive for the killings.

"This incident is being investigated as a homicide and is still in the early stages," Peters said.

The killings occurred at a house in the 200 block of 94th Avenue NW., according to the Anoka County Sheriff's Office.

An open-line call to 911 from the home came about 12:25 p.m. Friday and included "sounds of a disturbance in the background," according to Peters' statement.

Officers went to the residence and found the three victims dead inside, she said.
