A house fire in St. Paul was quickly brought under control Monday morning, but not before one firefighter was burned on his leg and two others were treated for smoke inhalation, authorities said.
A passerby reported the fire shortly after 8 a.m. at a house in the 1400 block of St. Albans Street, just west of Dale Street, said St. Paul Fire Marshal Steve Zaccard.
A firefighter who entered the front of the burning home fell through the floor and into the basement, Zaccard said. Other firefighters pulled him to safety a few minutes later.
The firefighter was treated and released at Regions Hospital for second-degree burns, Zaccard said. The two firefighters suffering from smoke inhalation were also treated and released at Regions.
The fire started in the basement, but its cause has yet to be determined.
The occupants of the bungalow-style home were on vacation, Zaccard said.
