The 2016 Ryder Cup at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska will be held from Sept. 30-Oct. 2, the PGA of America announced Thursday.

It will be the second time in six years the biennial event will finish in October, following a weather-forced Monday finish in Wales in 2010.

The Ryder Cup will cap a jam-packed summer of top-tier golf around the world in 2016.

The British Open will be held at Royal Troon in Scotland from July 14-17 with the PGA Championship moving from its traditional August date for the first time since 1971. The year's final major will be staged at Baltusrol in New Jersey from July 28-31.
Then golf returns to the Olympics for the first time since 1904. The Opening Ceremonies in Rio take place on Aug. 5, with the golf competitions (72-hole stroke play events for men and women) scheduled from Aug. 6-9 and 12-15.
