The flagship 2008 GMC Yukon XL Denali SUV brings new levels of refinement and capability to the full-sized SUV segment. Extensively redesigned last year, the large - and I do mean large - GMC sport-ute is based on General Motors' all-new sophisticated GMT900 truck architecture. The Yukon XL Denali boasts distinctive styling, spacious and upgraded interiors, impressive driving characteristics and enhanced safety features.

This giant is a distinct model from the rest of the Yukon XL lineup - with differentiated, exclusive features that up the ante in performance and style.

Specific features and equipment that sets the XL Denali apart from the standard model include: bold Denali-specific chrome grille and chrome exterior accents, standard 18-inch polished aluminum wheels with available 20-inch chrome aluminum wheels, standard all-wheel drive and Z55 Autoride suspension system with real-time damping, nuance leather-covered seating with heated first and second row seats and an available heated steering wheel.

The XL Denali is powered by a model-exclusive 6.2L V-8 (380 horsepower) connected to a refined Hydra-Matic 6L80 electronic six-speed automatic transmission. The transmission features an on-demand tow/haul mode as well as the industry's first full-sized SUV automatic with tap up/tap down shift control for more spirited driving.

The large SUV rides on a platform that features a fully boxed perimeter-type frame, which provides an extremely solid foundation.

Inside the cabin, the look is rich, with a modern rendition of displays, controls and switchgear. Roomy, spacious and ever user-friendly, the Yukon XL Denali features a "finished" interior that doesn't have any exposed metal hardware or latches. Flush-mounted accessories and controls create the look of a single unit, rather than components stacked together. The Denali is lavishly equipped more like a luxury sedan than an SUV.

Standard three-row seating adds to the flexibility of hauling people and/or cargo. The rear hatch features a rear liftgate that permits either window or full hatch access.

Finally, the big sport-ute's payload capacity is 1,446 lbs. Towing capacity is 7,900 lbs.
