STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. — Police say two teenagers were hospitalized with serious injuries after they fell several hundred feet from a cliff at Georgia's Stone Mountain Park, outside Atlanta.
Park spokesman John Bankhead said the two were in a restricted area on the back side of the park when they fell. They were hiking with a man and his 12-year-old son when they wandered into the restricted area, apparently bypassing fences and signs warning visitors to stay out.
Bankhead says the more seriously injured teen was airlifted to the Atlanta Medical Center. Ange Landress told WSB-TV that her stepson suffered two broken jaws and bruises on his brain and lungs.
The second teen was transported to the Gwinnett Medical Center.
Both teens were alert and conscious when they were being taken from the park.
