Two men who were fatally shot late Wednesday in separate incidents in Minneapolis were identified Thursday by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner.

Abdifatah Ibrahim Mohamed, 22, of St. Paul, was shot Wednesday night near 23rd Avenue S. and 9th Street, authorities said. Police were called to the scene at 7:30 p.m. and found him "gravely" wounded outside. He was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he died at 12:27 a.m. Thursday.

The second man, Mohamed Omar Hassan, 24, of Brooklyn Park, was fatally shot Wednesday night as he sat inside a car near 48th and Camden avenues N.

Hassan was in the car about 10:20 p.m. Wednesday when someone walked up to the side of the vehicle and opened fire, police said. He drove off rapidly south on Camden Avenue, crashing into a parked car and flipping. He managed to crawl out of the car to a nearby sidewalk, where he collapsed, police said. He was rushed to North Memorial Health Hospital, where he died.

Police said late Wednesday that Hassan's shooting was not related to last weekend's fatal police shooting of Thurman Blevins, 31, which occurred near the spot where Hassan was shot.

No one has been arrested in either of Wednesday's shootings.
