A pickup truck crossed the centerline of a highway in northwestern Minnesota late at night and collided head-on with a sugar beet truck, leaving both people in the pickup dead, authorities said Tuesday.
The crash occurred about 11:10 p.m. Monday on Hwy. 9, just north of Felton in Clay County, according to the State Patrol.
Killed were the pickup’s driver, a 33-year-old man, and his passenger, a 23-year-old man. The patrol said both were from nearby Borup.
The southbound pickup “crossed over the centerline” of the two-lane highway before hitting the northbound sugar beet truck, according to the patrol. Both men had on seat belts.
The other driver, 55-year-old Patrick A. Moran, of Waubun, Minn., was hospitalized in Fargo with noncritical injuries.
