A motorcyclist died in a crash Saturday night in Chisago County, and a Wisconsin woman who was a passenger on a motorcycle died Friday night in an accident in Crow Wing County.
In the Saturday crash, the rider lost control and left the road in Taylors Falls. The victim was dead when deputies arrived on the scene.
The rider's identity will be released after relatives have been notified, authorities said.
On Friday night, Ann M. Murphy, 51, of Racine, was riding behind her husband, Michael J. Murphy, 52, when he pulled their Harley-Davidson cycle over on the northbound shoulder of Hwy. 371 intending to cross the median, then pulled out in front of a car driven by Carolyn Herzog, 69, of Pequot Lakes, according to the State Patrol. The accident happened about 5 miles north of Brainerd.
Ann Murphy died at the scene. Her husband was taken to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, where he was in critical condition Monday. Herzog was not injured. Both were wearing helmets, the patrol said.
Meanwhile, a 28-year-old Minnesota man was jailed in South Dakota after he failed to stop his pickup at a stop sign in De Smet, S.D., just before 10 p.m. Friday and struck two teenagers. One died and the other suffered minor injuries.
James F. Harris of Anoka is suspected of driving drunk and faces criminal vehicular homicide charges, according to the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
