2 killed in crashes near Bemidji, in N.D.

Past week included two other crash-related fatalities.

A Pennsylvania woman was killed Saturday afternoon in a head-on collision near Bemidji, Minn., according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Sheryl L. Bruinsma, 72, of Springfield, Pa., died in the crash, which happened just after 2 p.m. on Hwy. 71 about 10 miles south of Bemidji.

The crash occurred when a southbound pickup driven by Steven W. Thompson, 63, of Bemidji, turned left into the path of the car driven by Bruinsma's husband, Walter G. Bruinsma, 75. Both Thompson and Walter Bruinsma suffered minor injuries.

Earlier Saturday, a Minnesotan died and two others were injured in a single-vehicle rollover crash near Devils Lake, N.D. According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, a pickup driven by Benson Vang of Brooklyn Center went out of control on a gravel road and rolled just after 9 a.m. Michael Vang, 44, ejected from the vehicle was pronounced dead at the Devils Lake hospital. Ma Xiong Vang, 42, of Ramsey and Sheng Vang, 43, from Brooklyn Park, were injured; Benson Vang, the pickup driver, was not hurt.

Other fatal crashes:

• An Apple Valley man died in a motorcycle crash Wednesday.

• A 68-year-old woman, of Blue Earth, Minn., died Monday when her car crashed into another vehicle.
