Two people died in a two-vehicle crash in western Minnesota over the weekend, authorities said.

The crash involving a car and a pickup truck occurred about 5:25 a.m. Sunday north of Osakis, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.

Both people in the car were killed, the Sheriff's Office said. They were identified as the car's driver, 24-year-old Scott G. Johnson, of Glenwood, and his 21-year-old passenger, Zoe M. Tostenson, 21, of Marshall, Minn.

The Sheriff's Office said Johnson failed to stop for the stop sign and was hit by the northbound pickup. The impact left the two vehicles in the ditch and "wedged together," a statement from the Sheriff's Office read.

The pickup driver, 19-year-old Dylan J. Klukken, of Osakis, was treated and released at a nearby hospital for minor injuries.
