A motorcyclist attempting to pass a vehicle on a central Minnesota road collided head-on with another motorcycle coming the other way, killing both drivers, authorities said Friday.

The collision occurred shortly before 5 p.m. Thursday on County Road 4 in Gilmanton Township, according to the Benton County Sheriff's Office.

Dead at the scene a few miles west of Foley were Larry Sorenson, 61, of West Union, Minn., and Patrick Ogg, 52, of Foley, the Sheriff's Office said.

Ogg was heading east on County Road 4 and attempting to pass a vehicle when he struck Sorenson's westbound motorcycle, the Sheriff's Office added.
