Two men were injured and taken to the hospital following separate shootings minutes apart in St. Paul late Sunday, police said.

Officers were alerted at 11:49 p.m. to a shooting in the 1000 block of Stinson Street. When they arrived they found a man with a gunshot wound.

The victim told police he was in the alley behind a SuperAmerica gas station when he encountered three suspects. One pulled out a gun and fired, said spokesman Mike Ernster.

The victim left the scene and called for help. He was taken to Regions Hospital with noncritical injuries, Ernster said.

As officers were on the scene, a second call about a shooting behind another SuperAmerica came in.

In that case, a man was in his vehicle in a parking lot when he was shot.

The victim drove out of the lot and several blocks east on Englewood Avenue to Hamline Avenue where he flagged a passing fire paramedics unit, Ernster said.

The victim was taken to Regions Hospital with noncritical injuries.

Police have not made any arrests in either case and are working to learn what led to the shootings.
