2 die in Cass County house fire

Two people died early Friday in a house fire in rural Cass County, according to the Sheriff's Office.

First responders were called to a house in Kego Township, near Longville, at 12:34 a.m., according to Sheriff Tom Burch. The home was fully engulfed in flames.

After the fire was extinguished, the bodies of two women — an 86-year-old from Longville and a 48-year-old from Remer — were found inside.

Their names have not been released, and the cause of the fire has not been established. The state fire marshal is investigating.
