Two boxer dogs bounded over a fence outside a family's central Minnesota home and attacked a woman and her small dog who were walking by. The boxers killed the dog and inflicted numerous bite wounds to the woman from her face down to her legs, authorities said.
The Stearns County Sheriff's Office seized the boxers and has them quarantined as officials determine their fate following the incident late Monday afternoon along a frontage road facing Interstate 94 in St. Joseph Township.
Julie K. Lingl, 61, who lives about a half-mile down the road from where the attack occurred, suffered "severe injuries" to her legs, along with numerous cuts and puncture wounds to her arms, hands, back, head and face, the Sheriff's Office said in a statement.
Lingl was being treated at St. Cloud Hospital and was expected to be released Tuesday.
The full-grown boxers, which belong to Rak and Michelle Tray, "jumped the fence" measuring 5 feet high in the backyard, then pounced on Lingl's dog as it was walked along the frontage road's shoulder, the Sheriff's Office said.
The Trays also keep other dogs at the sprawling property.
Michelle Tray on Tuesday declined to comment about the incident.
Linda Raine, whose daughter is married to the son of Julie and Greg Lingl, said Julie underwent surgery to close up her wounds and was scheduled to be discharged Tuesday.
