An 18-month boy is going to survive after falling out a third-floor apartment window, authorities said Thursday.

The incident occurred about 6 p.m. Wednesday at a building on the 4500 block of Snelling Avenue S., police said.

The child fell through a screen at the Oaks Hiawatha Apartments and was hospitalized, police added.

"We are confident that this was an accidental fall," said police spokesman John Elder. "The child has non-life threatening injuries."

The identity of the boy has not been disclosed.
