The teenager who died Monday after being shot in south Minneapolis the previous afternoon has been identified as Gregory L. Robinson Jr.
Robinson, 17, was shot about 2:30 p.m. Sunday by an unknown gunman while standing near the corner of 24th Street and 10th Avenue S. He was later taken to a nearby hospital, where he died the following day. Witnesses reported a vehicle speeding away from the scene shortly after gunshots rang out, but police haven’t released any suspect information and no arrests were reported.
Robinson was identified as the victim of the shooting in a police incident report. His death was the city’s 12th homicide of the year.
On Tuesday, online tributes began pouring onto social media, remembering Robinson as a “true fighter” who “always wanted the best” for his family.
In several photos, Robinson poses proudly with his young daughter.
