A 16-year-old boy died Sunday evening, a few hours after he was struck by a car while crossing University Avenue NE. in Fridley, the Anoka County Sheriff's Office said.
The boy, whose name was not released, was on foot at University and Mississippi Street when the accident happened about 1:30 p.m.
Fridley police, Anoka County officials and the State Patrol responded. He was taken to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale where he was pronounced dead at 5 p.m., the Hennepin County medical examiner said.
