The body of a 15-year-old boy was found near railroad tracks in northeast Minneapolis on Thursday night.

The boy was identified as Christopher Hanson, who lived in northeast Minneapolis less than 2 miles from where he was found, according to the Hennepin County medical examiner.

Police were called to an area near 14th Avenue NE. and Fillmore Street about 10:20 p.m. after a railroad employee found the teen dead, police spokesman Sgt. Steve McCarty said Friday. Hanson died of head injuries, and his death is under investigation.

His body wasn't found at a designated railroad crossing, said Amy McBeth, a spokeswoman for BNSF Railway. Also, there was no prior report by a train crew of an incident at that location, she said.
