14-year-old girl pulled from Brooklyn Center pool dies

A 14-year-old girl who was unconscious when she was pulled from a pool at a Brooklyn Center apartment building has died, authorities said.

Brooklyn Center police were called shortly before 6:30 p.m. A bystander had pulled the girl from the pool and started CPR. Brooklyn Park police continued CPR when they arrived. The girl was taken to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, where she was pronounced dead.

Lisa Kiava, a spokeswoman for the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office, said she did not know whether there were others at the pool with the girl or any other details. Kiava said the girl lived at the apartment building in the 500 block of 70th Avenue N. Her name has not yet been released.
