A 14-year-old boy was among the six people shot in Minneapolis over the weekend, a tally that included a drive-by shooting less than a block away from the Children's Hospital in which a pair of gunmen opened fire into a crowd on Friday, police said.
Officers were called shortly after 11 p.m. Saturday to an unspecified address on 40th Avenue in north Minneapolis on a report of a shooting, according to a police report.
When they arrived, they found the 14-year-old suffering from a noncritical injury, the report said. A police spokeswoman said that the victim, who was uncooperative with investigators, was taken to a nearby hospital and later discharged.
In the shooting Friday, police said that two gunmen were riding in a vehicle that pulled up to a house in the 2400 block of 10th Avenue S. and fired at a group of people, hitting three. The victims were: a 29-year-old Savage man, a 34-year-old Brooklyn Center man and a 24-year-old south Minneapolis man. The shooting happened about half a block north of Children's Hospital.
The alleged shooters fled the scene before police arrived, but the driver of the vehicle was caught.
A 30-year-old Bloomington man was arrested after officers directed by passersby stopped the vehicle he was driving from leaving the scene, police said. He remained jailed Monday morning without bail.
The Star Tribune generally doesn't name suspects who haven't been charged with a crime.
Investigators recovered two guns at the scene and are reviewing nearby surveillance video that may have captured the shooting in hopes that it will lead them to the other two suspects.
