Mitch Rechtzigel, a senior, is in his fifth season as a member of the Eastview wrestling team. He has registered more than 130 career victories. He became the first member of the Lightning to win his weight class (160 pounds) at the Bi-State Classic in LaCrosse (Wis.). Here is a closer look at Rechtzigel, who also was a linebacker on the football team:

Three words or phrases my friends or teammates might use to describe me? Determined; hard working; responsible.

How do you balance school and athletics during the year? I put all my effort into my sport at practice and in competition and forget about school. But once that is done, I focus on my school work that I need to do.

At my first varsity practice, I felt ... excited to be practicing with all the high school guys when I was still in middle school.

To get focused for a match, I ... go through my moves and my match in my head.

What is your favorite meal before a meet? A venison steak.

How did you get started playing the sports you play now in high school? I had friends who were also starting wrestling and my dad asked me if I wanted to give it a try. I was always interested in football, so that's how I started that.

When you have time off during vacation, what do you like to do? I like going hunting and fishing and hanging out with my friends.

In 10 years, I hope I'm ... doing something I love and am successful at it.

What is the best sports advice you ever received? The best thing I have been told is that when winning becomes as important as it is to breathe, then you will win.
