13 vehicles vandalized in downtown Minneapolis parking lot

July 12, 2014 at 2:54AM

Windows in 13 vehicles parked in downtown Minneapolis were smashed Thursday night or early Friday morning.

Minneapolis police were called to a parking lot at 7th Street and Portland Avenue S. at 3:35 a.m. on a report of multiple vehicles with broken windows. The suspect or suspects also rummaged through items inside some of the vehicles, but it was not immediately clear if anything was stolen, police spokesman John Elder said.

Police left cards with a phone number on each vandalized vehicle so the victims could contact them, Elder said.

No arrests had been made as of Friday. Police are investigating and checking with nearby businesses to see if video might have captured the crime.

Anybody with information is asked to call the police at 612-692-8477 or send an anonymous text to 847411 (tip411) and enter MPD and the tip.
