March 19, 2011 at 1:13AM

As of Friday's deadline, 12 Brooklyn Park residents had filed as candidates for mayor, a post that became vacant with the death of Mayor Steve Lampi last month.

The new mayor will be chosen from the whole field in a special election April 30. There will be no primary. The term will last until Dec. 13, 2014.

THE CANDIDATES: Billy B. Bishop, Mark Mata, Jeffrey Lunde, Tait Turnquist, Laurie Hilgers, Wynfred N. Russell, Jeannette Meyer, Joe Tanner, Boyd Morson, Scott Denver Scheid, Jim Krautkremer and Tony Pistilli.

WITHDRAWAL DEADLINE: Candidates have until Monday to withdraw their names from consideration.

QUALIFICATIONS: Each candidate must be at least 21 years old, an eligible voter and have lived within the city limits for 30 days before the election. Each also had to file a petition with the names of 25 supporters who all are eligible voters, and pay a $25 filing fee. Absentee voting starts April 23.
