Eleven people found guilty of possessing and distributing crack cocaine in the Duluth area over a three-year period were sentenced this week, said Frank J. Magill, acting United States Attorney.
An additional 15 defendants who have pleaded guilty to being involved in a distribution ring that sold between 40 and 60 kilograms of the highly addictive substance from 2005 to 2007 await sentencing.
"We are pleased to see the last chapter come to an end on one of the largest drug cases in our area's history," said Duluth Police Chief Gordon Ramsey. "Let this serve as a strong warning to others who dare to think of selling drugs in Duluth."
The defendants sentenced Thursday and Friday received punishment ranging from probation to 120 months in jail, a news release from the United States Attorney's Office District of Minnesota said.
Those sentenced were Carrie Jo Farrell, 41; Jolynn Laura Johnson, 24, Francisco James Bell, 31, Tracey Ann Clark, 24, Tyrell Martell Beckom, 23, Makenzie Lynn Ann Eggersgluess, 21; Amy Lynn Legore, 28, Chaz Michael Legore, 43, all of Duluth; Jennifer Rosayice Mincey, 28, of Superior, Wis.; Theotus Wright, 70, and Fredrick Damond Watts, 32 whose home addresses where unknown.
