The Current 89.3 FM is finishing off its pledge drive today -- and offering some pretty cool giveaway items as incentive. Then it goes straight into giving back to the local music community: Saturday is "Minnesota Music Day" on the station, featuring nothing but homegrown songs from midnight to midnight and including special all-local editions of "Teenage Kicks" (8-10 a.m.), "Radio Free Current (7-10 p.m.) and "Redefinition Radio" (11 p.m.-midnight). The station has already been playing strong new songs by Communist Daughter, Peter Wolf Crier, Cloud Cult, Jeremy Messersmith and Mason Jennings (personally, I'm still moved every time I hear "The Field"). Here are some friendly suggestions for 10 other great new songs it should play Saturday, and perhaps many days thereafter:

Birthday Suits, "Table Talk" Dessa, "Dixon's Girl" Dosh, "Number 41" Kristoff Krane, "Inside Out" James Buckley Trio, "What's Yours" Off With Their Heads, "Drive" Rogue Valley, "Red River of the North" The Tisdales, "Scenester Bingo" Trampled by Turtles, "Separate" Vampire Hands, "Poor Bird"
