A man was fatally pinned between a semitrailer truck and a piece of construction equipment Wednesday morning in Hugo, authorities said.

The incident involving the semi and a front-end loader occurred about 8:40 a.m. in the 14600 block of Irish Avenue, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

The victim was identified as Aaron D. Reich, 36, of Buffalo, Minn.

Reich "was pinned between them," said Sheriff's Sgt. Joseph Stoehr.

The Minnesota office of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration said the death is considered a workplace incident, and "we have been notified and are reviewing," according to agency spokesman James Honerman.

Emergency responders carried out lifesaving efforts on Reich, who was pronounced dead at the scene, the Sheriff's Office said.

The Sheriff's Office has yet to disclose the circumstances leading up to Reich's death.
