One person was killed and three others injured Friday night when a stopped car was rear-ended on Hwy. 62 in Inver Grove Heights, the State Patrol said.
A Pontiac Grand Am driven by Anwar Ibrahim Yahia Abdiwahed, 25, of Minneapolis, came to a stop in the right lane of traffic on westbound Hwy. 62 (formerly Hwy. 110) west of South Robert Trail shortly before 9:30 p.m. Friday. The car was struck from behind by a Dodge Ram pickup driven by Jamey Scott Ralph Strand, 37, of Brooklyn Center.
A passenger in the Pontiac, Ahmed Ibrahim Ahmed, 29, of Minneapolis, was killed, the State Patrol said. Both drivers and a second passenger in the Pontiac were taken to Regions Hospital in St. Paul with noncritical injuries.
Drugs are suspected to be a factor in the crash, the State Patrol said, but declined to offer further details.
