1 arrested, 5 vehicles damaged in police chase that ended near downtown

No injuries reported, police said.

A police pursuit Thursday afternoon in ended after multiple crashes south of downtown, and the driver of a stolen vehicle in custody.

Police spokeswoman Sgt. Darcy Horn said the pursuit began at 1:15 p.m. at 35th Street and Chicago Avenue S. on a report of a stolen vehicle. The police chase ended near Franklin and Hennepin avenues. Horn said it was unclear whether the stolen vehicle crashed or the driver stopped.

A woman who had been in the car was arrested at the scene, Horn said, although she didn't specify whether it was the driver.

Medics were called, according to scanner traffic, but police said no injuries have been reported. Five other vehicles were damaged in the chase.

Scanner traffic reports that the vehicle crashed several times, including on Hennepin Avenue before ending near Franklin and Hennepin avenues heading toward downtown.
