The last thing the Twins need following an injury-plagued season is to worry about a potentially serious injury on the seventh day of camp. But they have one.

Reliever Joel Zumaya, attempting a comeback after fracturing his elbow in 2010 - at Target Field - will have an MRI on his right elbow Sunday morning after cutting short a batting practice session on Saturday.

Twins GM Terry Ryan confirmed that the MRI will be on the INSIDE of the elbow.

Not good.

I just checked in with Twins righthander Kyle Gibson, who is working out on a back field at the Lee County Sports Complex. He showed me the scar resulting from Tommy John surgery last year - on the inside of his elbow.

``Obviously he felt something that was discomforting so he came off, which was right," Ryan said. ``We've had this happen down here before. We've had people walk off the mound because they were hurt. I'm glad he came off there, we'll get it addressed tomorrow and see what the results of that MRI are. It would be a little less concerning if we didn't have the history with him, which he's experienced in his career.

``There's not a lot I give you until we get the results. They'll be out fairly soon. We'll get him in tomorrow morning, which is a good thing, Sunday morning."

Zumaya, 27, has had various arm problems during his career - which is why he hasn't thrown more than 38 innings in a season since 2006. But he's never had an elbow ligament problem.

The Twins, of course, are hoping for the best.
