I like this: Disney will sell movies on those tiny cards you use in your camera, and always lose if you have more than two.

Why is it good? Because DVDs scratch. DVD players require a disk drawer. It opens, takes the disk, closes, then chews it over. I DON'T HAVE TIME FOR THIS. MOVIE NOW. With Blu-Rays the process takes longer, as it loads all the content you'll never use, including the chance to interact live with people who are also watching the movie, thereby bringing the experience of a loud, talkative movie-theater audience right into your home. Popping in a tiny card is much more Star-Trekesque than optical disks. Me, I've gotten over the thrill of owning my own personal laser. When we first heard we'd have movie-machines that used LASERS to read the data, we were thrilled, until we realized that all this wonderful tech could be defeated by a child picking up the disk with a hand goobed up with grape jelly.

It's a stopgap medium, probably; I'd bet that all sorts of disks will be gone in five years. But until then, if they can make you buy Dumbo in another format, more power to them.
