An emotional Mike Yeo opened his press scrum this morning by sharing some thoughts regarding the tragic car accident earlier this week that yesterday resulted in the loss of life of 18-year-old Braedon Hyland, a multi-sport athlete at Eastridge High School -- the school in Yeo's community and where his daughter attends.
Blake Sowle, 17, remains in critical condition.
Yeo got to meet members of the team -- a team Wes Walz helped coach last year -- after the Edmonton win on Thursday.
"We all here are thinking of them and are praying for them and their families and for also the family involved," Yeo said. "It's very sad. I had a chance to meet some of their teammates the other day and I was really impressed just by these young men and how they were sticking together and leaning on each other.
"They're all hurting. It's sad."
On much more trivial things, the Wild will go with the same lineup tonight against Detroit. Guillaume Latendresse skated this morning and will play. Josh Harding will make his first start in goal in 19 months.
This morning, former Wild, Devils and Blackhawks center John Madden watched from the stands. Madden says the fire still burns and he hopes his career continues and that he can latch onto a team at some point this season. Madden turned down opportunities in Europe.
