One of three people shot outside a Hudson liquor store over the weekend was in critical condition Monday, while the other two have been treated for their wounds and released from the hospital, authorities said.

Two suspects, nabbed that morning outside a hotel near the Mall of America, remained in custody Tuesday pending charges.

In critical condition at Regions Hospital in St. Paul was Fartun I. Aidid, 28, of Hopkins, a hospital spokeswoman said. She was shot in the abdomen, police said. Treated for gunshot wounds and released were Abdirahman A. Hersi, 23, of Minneapolis, and Mohamed D. Hussein, 21, of Savage.

The bloodshed occurred about 9:20 a.m. Sunday, with all those involved having arrived at the Hudson store in two vehicles registered in Minnesota, where liquor stores are closed by law on Sundays.

Gunfire from a car hit the victims sitting in an SUV, said Hudson Police Chief Marty Jensen.

Authorities have yet to establish whether the two groups of people knew each other before the incident. "We're not getting a lot of cooperation from the victims," Jensen said.

The chief said the two wounded men walked into the liquor store, where emergency responders found them. The woman stayed in the SUV, Jensen said. Three others in the SUV with the woman were unharmed, he said.

Witnesses said they saw people talking in the lot, then heard shots fired outside Spirit Seller Liquors, which opened at 9 a.m. The shooters fled in a tan or gray Cadillac with tinted windows, police said.

Police issued an all-points alert for the car, and an Eagan officer spotted it on Interstate 494 a little more than an hour after the shooting. The officer followed it to a hotel near the Mall of America and radioed Bloomington police. Officers arrested two men as they walked toward the Hampton Inn near the mall, Hudson police said.
