Woman fatally shot in head in north-central Minnesota; man arrested

The killing occurred Sunday morning in Cass Lake County.

A woman was shot to death at a home in north-central Minnesota, and a suspect has been arrested, authorities said Monday.

The shooting occurred about 8:15 a.m. Sunday at a home in the Cass Lake area, said Cass County Sheriff Tom Burch.

The woman, 25, was shot in the head, the sheriff said. Emergency responders attempted to revive the woman, but she was declared dead at the scene. Her identity has yet to be disclosed.

A 24-year-old man remains jailed in connection with the killing and has yet to be charged.

Authorities have not disclosed the circumstances leading up to the shooting or how the victim and the suspect knew each other.
