A 37-year-old woman from Austin, Minn. is dead after she was ejected from her vehicle in a crash on icy Interstate 35 near Clarks Grove in Freeborn County early Thursday.

Ileana Babastro was driving a 1997 Toyota 4 Runner heading south on I-35 just after 3:40 a.m. when she lost control of the vehicle, which went down the center median and rolled over, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. Her vehicle came to rest in the northbound exit ramp to Hwy. 251.

Her passengers, Sashy Martinez, 31, of Rochester, N.Y., and Reinaldo Quesada, 41, of Albert Lea, Minn., were both taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea with noncritical injuries.

Quesada was the only person in the car wearing a seat belt, the patrol said. Alcohol was not a factor, it said.

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
