Preview: The Wolves have lost eight of their past nine games, including three of four on a homestand completed Sunday with a 100-94 loss to the Lakers. The Wolves' lone victory in the past nine games was a 90-82 victory over Portland. ….The Wizards have won four in a row to improve to 17-6 overall, equaling the best start in franchise history. Washington has also won seven straight home games, going 12-2 overall at the Verizon Center.

Players to watch: Washington point guard John Wall is looking like the player everyone expected when the Wizards made him the first overall pick in 2010. Wall is averaging 17.7 points and a career-best 10.3 assists. He had 16 points, eight assists, six rebounds, five steals and two blocks in a 93-84 victory over Utah on Sunday. Former Gopher and Hopkins High School star Kris Humphries has worked his way into the starting lineup, averaging 8.0 points and 6.5 rebounds . … Shabazz Muhammad has been providing a spark off the bench for the Wolves, averaging 17.9 points (52.6 percent shooting from the field) and 4.9 rebounds in 24.8 minutes over the last nine games.

Numbers: The home team has won eight of the past nine meetings between the Wolves and Wizards. … The Wizards are 11 games over .500 for the first time since April 1, 2005.

Injuries: Wolves G Mo Williams (back) is questionable. G Ricky Rubio (ankle), G Kevin Martin (wrist), C Nikola Pekovic (wrist, ankle) and C Ronny Turiaf (hip) are out. For the Wizards, Martell Webster — a former Wolf — is out after undergoing back surgery.
